I enjoyed this series. The acting is great, but the show is not without its flaws. As has been described in many reviews here, the whole conceit of the show rests on the extremely poor decision making skills of the people involved. Its hard to watch and not constantly be thinking "you idiot!" However, that's also kind of the point.
The whole show revolves around the "Inside Man", Stanley Tucci's character who is a former criminologist who, for reasons unknown to the audience, brutally murdered his wife and decapitated her corpse. He states a few times he had a "reason", but he is fully aware of his atrocities. He states multiple times things like "we're all murderers, it just takes meeting the right person", or "we're all murderers, its just takes the right circumstances" or something like that.
That's really what this show is about. Put in an impossible situation, how do we react. The main characters reacted VERY poorly. Whether or not you think you would act the same way is up to you. I doubt few people would think of themselves as capable of that, but do any of us really know?
