I’ve always wondered why you have the option to watch a movie at 2x the speed, and this movie is the perfect one for that. I was intrigued enough to hang in there but by the end I felt taken for a ride—what was the point? Also the parallels b/w the film’s characters and the real-life characters were distracting and pointless, just relevant enough to have me going, “uh-huh” to some distant factoid that actually took me out of the story. Missed opportunity to have made a more thought-provoking movie—at least the acting was solid (for me Georgie is a little over the top). If you watch, I recommend at max speed.

There is a pervasive lack of trust that a wider audience might actually sit through something nuanced & finely crafted, and so this production compensates in the most predictable, cartoonish, TikTok check-listed, misguided, disingenuous ways— not to mention it’s gratuitously crass. I watched 2 episodes embarrassed for the director, the writers, the actors, Netflix, for Poe retching in his grave, and hope this low point in arts & culture might serve as the SBD fart in the room that has us all re-thinking our appetite for trash.
