I grew up in the segregated South. As I watched the final 20 minutes of the film, tears ran down my cheeks. The bravery and the determination of the freedom riders are truly inspirational. They were heroes. The film not only called up many sad memories of racial injustice back in the early '60s, however; it also feels just as relevant now. The fight isn't over. There's still more work to be done. I hope people watching the film today will be inspired to participate in the movement to erase lingering racial discrimination that is sweeping our nation today.
