Here’s what I’ll say,
I liked the look of the movie and the creative aspects of it. And the comedy made me laugh, it had some good funny moments.
However,
the plot and world building where weak. And generally speaking, so was the character development.
And at the end of it, all I can think of is that clip from sonic boom where knuckles says “anytime someone calls attention to the breaking of gender roles, it ultimately undermines the concept of gender equality by implying that this is an exception and not the status quo.”
A lot that was said about women’s struggle is true, but both women and men, as human beings, have struggles. If we really want equality, we should not emphasize one over the other. Men and women are both human beings, and are very different and unique from each other, but they are created equally.
but plot wise,
I would have loved to see more of Barbie and Ken exploring the real world as it really is (not super animated like it was portrayed in the movie). And from that experience, they would learn about how perfection is not beauty (which is a thing a think the movie kinda touches, but not enough in my opinion)
Anyway, say what you’ll say about it, it was NOT a terrible movie, just a little weak in a few important areas. Thanks for reading.
