John carpenter is known for making movies that appeal to teenage boys, with ample plot holes and cinematic cliches. This ones from 95 and its no different than all the rest. Dont get me wrong. I love JC but most of it is like watching a long cologne commercial, complete with aging star and dimly lit desert. Its a good movie. Just dont think too hard. Lol

For an 80s throw back it is surprisingly entertaining despite the bad acting and blundering of scenario logic. If you can suspend ur 2020s modern attention to detail it is certainly worth the while. While being shot in Germany and Italy somehow it perfectly captures the dreamy gung ho innocent narcissism of the mid 80s. Special effects? Yep, its got em. In all their overly moistened dollar tree holloween make up isle glory. Lots of no brainer fun. I particularly loved when the african american body builder got his balls twisted off. Smh. Can that actually kill ya? Idk.
