Garbage.
I had hoped that throwing off the 'Star Trek canon' restraints would take the programme in new directions but the writing is terrible. Just terrible.
At first I cringed at the dialogue, then came frustration and in the end indiference.
The scripts are emotional hyperbole. In one episode we see Michael Burnham do the space equivalent of 'lending a neighbour a cup of sugar,' only to see this later drawn out into a monologue on how they're all space family now and they have to look out for each others feelings. This is coming from someone who was supposedly raised by Vulcans ffs!
It's excruciating to the point that if the Borg showed up, you'd be rooting for them to assimilate every single one of these neurotic, angst riddled, separation anxious excuses for characters.
Just one look at the writing credits and it all made sense.
I just can't believe that anyone invests actual money making this rubbish, or time watching it.
