This book is hyperbolic speculation. O doubt the ancients understood things about "medicinal" value of herbs but for an entire population tripping on mushrooms to retreat to totally hidden knowledge is improbable beyond belief. We have fought a drug war for generations and the drugs are winning. How could they have suppressed so much then?
