I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie. The story was unique and very interesting. But what made the movie compelling were the actors’ performances. Another star turn for Tom Hardy. Austin Butler and Jody Comer showed themselves to be more than pretty faces. And Michael Shannon was his usual, i.e. great. I loved it

Frantic, adrenaline pumping portrait of a gambler.

I loved it. It’s not really Tony’s story, it’s Dicky Moltisanti’s. And what a story it is. Dicky is as interesting a character as the adult Tony and his influence shows, although it’s really Tony’s character that seems to have influenced David Chase’s drawing of Dicky. For any fan of the Sopranos this movie is a joy. Our faves are all here, Junior, Livia, Silvio, Pauly and, to a lesser extent, Tony’s father Johnny. I didn’t give it 5 stars only because I wanted it to go on longer. And, PS, Michael Gandolfini will make your heart ache for young Tony, for Michael and for the great loss of James Gandolfini
