This book should be on the shelf of anyone that does their own canning, cooking, animal husbandry, homesteading, and more. I have an original that has been taped up, used, and loved for more than forty-five years. Some books, like bread and water, are staples. This book is one of those.

I bought this book when it first came out in 1971 as a guide for living frugally and in unity with the earth. It was an essential guide for the Hippie communes and those wanting to live off the grid. The information it contains is as relevant today as it was then. Although not for everyone, I recommend it to all seeking a simpler lifestyle.
