Purple Hibiscus made me fall in love afresh with writing. The diction made it more realistic than a fiction. As an African, a Nigerian, from the Igbo tribe and residing at Nsukka then. Each event was relatable and location names made it more emotional for me. I could relate to all, felt a part of my story being told too. Made me wonder how an individual came up with such series of realistic event. It was difficult for me to believe then that it wasn't an autobiography. Chimamanda Adichie did a great work in that piece. Could remember my literature teacher saying he taught Chimamanda the author, while analyzing the fiction. If Chimaman started here (University of Nigeria Secondary School, Nsukka), I was convinced anyone can be great background regardless. I so much love the novel and admire her writing skills.
