As someone who loves history so I know the story is b.s. but I love tall tells and this is one good one.
Not only is it about a man going against all odds but its also about breaking the chains that bind us,that thing we call destiny. So many symbolic moments within these characters that i find myself often catching one each time I watch it. Like lieutenant dan being the only one in his family not to die in a war, only to find his peace with god.forrest named after a racist klans man befriends a black man named Bubba, also love when Bubba mother finally gets a white servant.
And yeah I cry everytime forrest confesses his love to jenny, and she leaves only to come back in him on her death bed saying how she wishes she was with him when he was on his adventures and he replies with "you were". Maybe I'm just a softy but it's honestly one of my favorite lines,in the film.
