The magical widow is there just to tell him how wonderful he is Ashley Jensen must have rued the day she agreed to this, considering how her character gets zero development The secondary characters go nowhere - they’re all grotesque and not in a funny, satirical way The jokes (especially about fat people) are so inane you just want them to stop (my theory is that is why Conaty didn’t come back) The ending is absolutely awful and the final fading has been done a million times And, most of all, Mr Gervais, you had the temerity of using Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now to mask the unpleasant sugary fluffy nothingness of an ending Shame, shame on you
