honestly the best drama i’ve ever watched. this was what got me out of my film/series slump. zai zai might seem like your typical cliched female lead but she’s actually pretty relatable, not annoying, nor on the slow, low IQ side. she’s smart, courageous and the most cheerful, optimistic person i’ve ever met. I loved how understanding she was and how they portrayed your typical teenagers and not weird angsty love triangles. no misunderstandings of any sorts, cause any form of misunderstanding gets sorted out in the same episode or in the next one. A pretty realistic film, that got me humbled and brought me back to reality, cause it really portrayed how we don’t always have to be the most successful, good looking or be flawless 24/7. Something we all kinda struggle with in today’s society. All the characters are amazing and rang rang is not your typical cold faced male lead with personality issues. He’s just a closed off teenager wronged by his parents and family. But after meeting zai zai you can see him slowly transform into a better more confident person. I loved how he started smiling so much when the gang is by his side. I totally envy their friendship like each and everyone’s backstory were total legit n relatable stuff. They always have each other’s back but it’s not a extra dramatic film with gang fights and superior martial arts or something. I mean that doesn’t always happen in real life so I’m so grateful I didn’t have to watch another film where the ml saved the fl from like the mafia or sth. gu ran and jia jia were also total goals. their tension n interactions were insaneeeee. wish we could have a season two with more screen time for them though cause they really deserve it. Guan Fang our eternal third wheel made me cry. like his grandma n his bond, y’all. but all in all it’s a 10/10, might be boring if y’all like super angsty, heavy plots. this is more like a fluffy, break typa drama to watch in between all the heavy content we all tend to consume. very healing n grounding n exactly what my over stimulated, depressed, anxiety ridden senior high schooler self needed b4 taking my finals.
