I know my review won't matter to most stumbling upon it, but I enjoyed the film. I've read the short story this film is based on and, although it is well-written, the movie did the premise better justice. Yes, it is a comedy at the forefront with its kid-friendly silliness. It even has horror moments that call back to paranormal-oriented franchises. Not to mention some action sequences or the silly media references — which we must admit, are on point with how some people act online. But, beneath all that, it has a heartwarming story.
It is about a teen who helps a ghost find peace. And that, right there, is why I like the film. It isn't the corny jokes or car chases. Not the mob of people trying to get a selfie with the ghost or the romantic side plot. It is the bond of two people, even when one is dead, working together. I know not everyone enjoys the same movie as everyone else, and you surely might dislike it, but by the end I was smiling.
In my opinion, this film is worth sharing and it is a good family movie. A feel-good movie, even! It is going right up there on the shelf alongside GHOST (1990 film) for me.
