Never read the book, vaguely remember the original miniseries but I really like this show. I don't know if it's because I'm not familiar with the source material or what but I don't understand the hate this is getting. I am usually one of the first people to complain if something is "woke" but I just don't see it going on with this series at all. Is it the Larry Underwood race swap? Honestly, that bothered me with Roland because I had read the books and the film it was turned into was horrible but Larry in the series is one of my favorite characters, and honestly the fact that they had the balls to do that with a character with real flaws is about as far from "Woke" as it gets. Usually, P.O.C.s are treated as perfect flawless beings that are bland and forgettable, but this series is building everyone pretty well imo. Amber Heard might be a psycho irl , and maybe she shouldn't have got the job but she does fine in the part so it really doesn't take away from how good the show is for me. As a person with no connection to the source material I definitely recommend it so take that for what it's worth.
