This game is a gold standard for settlement building and resource management games. I love the post-apocalypse, shanty-town aesthetic.
The overarching goal is to build a fallout shelter by scraping together materials and learning from the old world, a process which feels like a serious grind towards the end.
This installment in the genre features a 2 phase game style thy can easily be switched between. In one, you guide specialists on a world map to have them do battle with bandit camps or search for supplies through many locations. You can then build on the world No to harvest resources for your settlement. The other phase is the meat and potatoes of a settlement builder.
You’ll be researching several different tech trees, building and upgrading facilities, and balancing the flow of a dozen key resources, and even more secondary resources, to create integral supplies for your villagers. These consumables are very important for smooth operations in society, either for trade, eating, or medicinal use, there are tools and weapons and clothes of many varieties to experiment with.
Your villagers will have plenty to do, either schlepping goods around, operating resource extraction, or managing farms, there are dozens of installations to build that support you settlement.
You’ll have plenty of choices to make in both phases. Some folks can gain an advantage if their specialization lines up right, netting huge rewards. Some choices can set you back several hours in game though, so wisdom helps.
I definitely had issues running this game in its release update state on a One S. On the series X it runs flawlessly, especially with the update support. Im greatly looking forward to DLC For this game. Definitely need expanded research tree science traits. Also feels like the need for more diverse missions and building options should be addressed.
Play this game if your into this genre. No ragrets.
