I thought Margo Robbie was perfectly cast, but the message of this film really got lost along the way...the "Ken" element was dreadful. The little girls who play with, and, supposedly, draw inspiration from Barbie were hardly mentioned in the narrative. Very sophmoric effort. By the end of the movie, I felt queasyas if I had eaten a whole box of milk duds

I wish the film had been lighted better. So many sequences at night or inside that van. Even in broad daylight out in the desert, it is shadowed That said the film is a sensitive depiction of the anomie only found among people in the US,

The books are great, beautifully written and can be enjoyed even in translation. The story of the friendship of Lina and Elena has so much truth and cuts to the heart of how we live today as women, wives, mothers, lovers and loyal friends. HBO must be congratulated for bringing this major literary work to the screen, but Ferrante's words must be read!
