This is a grim tale of what were to happen after the fall of society. As humans, tough times can bring out the best in us, but it can also bring out the very worst, and I think this movie does a good job accentuating this dichotomy. The protagonist's desperation is accentuated by the dangers he faces all around him, while providing for, teaching, and protecting his young son, he also motivates him and tries to keep his spirits up, despite their seemingly hopeless circumstances. Even in the end, you feel a glimmer of hope for those who seek to restore civilization. If you're looking for a feel-good movie, this isn't it; however, this is a stark warning of what things could be like, if the "fit hits the shan".
