Although an easy read it was full of detail and in a chronological order. Fair attention was given to all band members past and present. There was generous attention given to Denny Laine and his career with Paul McCartney in Wings. The approach throughout the book was unbiased and included stories and events behind the scenes. It avoided the "gushing fan" approach too often seen in books like this which are commonly fan-authored as the topic can be perceived as niche or specialized. Lots of photographs were appreciated. However the career of this band is so long and full, despite their demure approach to publicity, that this book only brought us from origins (in late 50's) to 1979. Volume 2 promises to be just as full as the band hit many highs until their unannounced cessation of performing/recording in late 2018. It was an interesting read and nice to see/hear that not all bands in the 60's and 70's were dysfunctional acid-dropping angst driven glory-hounds. Their band rep as "the gentlemen of Rock" so far seems validated here! that alone should make you curious!
