Highjacking Dickens’s philosophy and style to transform GE into a re-formatted version is frankly light loading on a big scale with no added value for most traditional BBC viewers expectations. Not a great watch. Peaky Blinders used a format that uniquely worked for that programme, but I was lost as to where the original book formed the backbone of Dickens’s dialogue.
