I'm a native Tamil speaker and I mostly am okay this movie.
3 stars because I've seen better movies.
I loved how my language was being represented in this film, and it was honestly refreshing to see this sort of a setting in a product of Bollywood. It was nuanced, showed the difficulties of a long-distance marriage very well in my opinion.
The most accurate thing here is probably the kind of 'worship' that revolves around Rajnikanth, it's impeccably portrayed. 😂
Just a few things I felt could have been worked on to make this film an unforgettable watch.
- The 'unrealistic' condition for celibacy in his office: I'm totally not the best person to be commenting on the dynamics of the workplace, but I felt the condition was something a boss had no right to enforce on his employees. Have no idea though, just my little two cents.
- The pronunciation of the Tamil dialogues: (This one's not too much of a bother, honestly.) Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate that they included some of the local tongue in what is still a Hindi movie to make the setting feel authentic, and the pronunciation was not bad at all for non-natives, but I feel that if the actors worked on those little bits it would have been an commendable performance on the whole.
