The film is a somewhat unique portrayal, and features a strong performance from the actress who plays Frances, the young child from where the story takes its name. However the film is soured by a constant need to drive home how progressive, woke, and enlightened everyone in the story is, and how you should be too. As a result it feels like you're being preached to, by a teenager who's just discovered what feminism is.
