Usually I won't watch other language movies much.It will be difficult for me to get into the culture of those movies..Culture is that thing which adds details to a movie of a particular region... But Parasite proved me one strong message : Culture may differ but problems and emotions are universal.. The universal thing which this mankind faces is 'Discrimination'. It can be termed as Racism, Capitalism, Casteism depending upon the country you live.. But the retaliation of this effect is to 'Fight against discrimination'.. That is why Parasite has an universal appeal...
You will be my most respectable teacher of my kid.. But I can still hire you on money basis for a silly birthday party surprise. You may be the most trustworthy cook of my family... Still I will consider you as garbage when I come to know that you have a communicable disease like Tuberculosis.. To make me happy you should run towards me... To make me safe you should run away from me... Because I'm the owner.... You are just a labour...Parasite registers this effect of captilasim in many instances...
Mostly Parasite said this in a subtle manner until this scene arrived... This scene exploded like a bomb...A person who lived under the basement till then comes storming to the birthday party and some miserable events take place... That person calls the owner as 'Mr. Park.. Note again..he calls him 'Mr. Park'.He gives him respect even in that worse situation.. But the owner didn't... That person shouts as 'Respect'.. Throughout his life he wanted that respect... Even in his last seconds he didn't get that and so he shouts his lung out as 'Respect'.But owner smells the basement odour of that person and closes his nose which makes Mr. Kim more angry.. A labour just expects 'respect' from his owner...But throughout this world he just faces discrimination..As Katrathu Tamizh says 'இந்த உலகத்துல மொத்தம் ரெண்டே பேர் தான்... ஒன்னு எல்லாத்தயும் அனுபவிக்கிற முதலாளி...இன்னோனு சார் சார் னு தொண்டு செய்ற தொழிலாளி.'
Loved even the basement connect to capitalism..People living upstairs are shown as landlords whereas people living in basement are shown as working class people.. So much of steps exists between the hearts of working people and a capitalist.. Director has blended his art medium to this social discrimination.Inspite of discussing a social problem this movie had a satire backdrop and a thrilling screenplay to make it more interesting.. So definitely it will please it's viewers.
An organism which get it's nutrients by living on other organism will be termed as Parasite.. What a fitting title this movie has got... After watching this movie you will feel that no other title can match this brilliant movie...Every organism in this world is in symbiotic relationship with other.. What this relationship demands is not just money or salary..But 'Self-respect'...
