The book is entertaining, but that’s it. After two chapters in, the first thought that came to my mind was “it’s Wattpad with good grammar”, which can sometimes be fun to read but nothing exciting. It’s literally the hunger games with magic, which is rather disappointing. The flirting makes me cringe. It lags quite a bit from the middle onwards and I was honestly just pushing myself to finish the book to be able to say I’d read it. I understand why it’s a tiktok sensation - which is because it’s unrealistically flirty - but I personally don’t enjoy those tropes (I prefer realistic relationships). Also I HATE love triangles. Before reading the book I looked up whether there was a love triangle to which it said there was a hint of one but I strongly disagree. The love triangle is very apparent, and every time she was with either of the boys I wanted to claw my eyes out. Also this was not an enemies to lovers. They flirted from the get go. The first line he says to her is “is it a habit of yours to bump into handsome strangers or is this a new thing for you?” Like… how is that enemies? They immediately like each other, and honestly she just flirts which every guy she meets which annoys me. She even flirts with her guard, who is definitely not supposed to be hinted at as a love interest. Obviously this is just my opinion, but there are definitely better fantasy romances (enemies to lovers especially) to read. If you’re bored and have nothing to read then Powerless is good for being entertained.

I personally didn’t like this book. It’s the same old storyline and when something shocking Happens the reaction is not what it should be. For example: one moment Ever’s fighting for her life, and the next she’s in some other dimension with her supposed Immortal boyfriend and she’s imagining being at the beach with him. I only read the full thing because I felt like I should and I was bored. I don’t recommend this book, but viewers should preview it first because my opinion is my opinion and we may have different tastes.
