Let me do a little introduction before telling you why I think Cube (2021) is not that good. "The Cube" by its own concept is very simple: - People got trapped in "The Cube" - They don't remember much aside from name and where are they before waking up in "The Cube" - " The Cube " is a structures that base on a very complex methametic system, They are always shuffling and changing room, Also there are also a room with a trapped in it. - There are "traitor" amongst the group of survivor. - People who got trapped in "The Cube" wants out. While also have to fight paranoid, Conspiracy and Stressful situation. These elements are done to near perfection in 1997 version (In my own opinion, The best of them all). The 1997 feel just right in every way, They don't dragging on on each part too much, And you are always suspense on the mystery of "The Cube" The Hypercube and Cube Zero aren't that bad, But in comparision to 1997. They don't hit the mark as the first one do and going all over the place. But still, The concept and the thrilling aspect still maintain quite well. But Cube (2021) is different, It is not the Cube at all. The concept of "The Cube" itself are frankly enough, Very open. The best part in my own opinion (Base from Cube Zero story line) "The Cube" is an Experimental/Government project which is "Global". Meaning in the world of "The Cube". There are "The Cube" everywhere in every countries. So at this point, You got a chance to observe the possiblies and interaction between character in each countries the setting of the movies are on. Now I admit, The half part of Cube (2021) is really very good on introducing a characters. Not too much not too little, Just enough to get a glimpse on whos who. But somehow, The movie shifting tone, It starting to became a "Social Commentary" movie instead. A suicide issue, Abuse issue, NEAT issue not to mention that the characters start to acting in a manner that does not at all very convincing or even to be symphatize with. I have no idea why on earth are they doing this movie right now, But I suspected it probably had to do with Squid Game or a sudden rise on the Battle Royale game or surviving movie. In the end, I won't say that this is a bad movie. But this is not "The Cube" movie you would want to experience or watching at all. But if you just want to watch some thrilling movie (which is not even that thrilling) or if you don't know "The Cube" before. You can giving it a try. **** Personally, I hate "The Kid" chracter in this one. It doesn not contributing anything to the movie at all and the very existance is only to added the unncessary kind of drama which also falling flat on its own face too ****
