I grew up witnessing many heated discussions about philosophical conundrums in my home. My dear uncle was the main cause of those discussions, I vividly remember him talking of great thinkers, namely, Socrates and his 'sacrifice', Hegel and his 'historicism', Kant and his 'glasses of reason', the cynical Descartes, the careless Nietzsche, and so forth. As a child, I couldn't really wrap my head around his line of thought. However, I grew to appreciate having been raised in that very philosophical house. One day, I came across Sophie's World and I immediately remembered numerous references to this book, what was all the fuss about? Having started the book, I began to see the world through the lenses of every great thinker I read about. Nevertheless, the peculiar ending got me thinking, was it the conflict between 'conscious' and 'unconscious' mind, was it becoming the 'Übermensch' and acquiring free will to the utmost, or ...?
