I've cooked from a number of Indonesian cookbooks and this one was the easiest to follow. The recipes use ingredients that can be readily found and will often include substitutes. The recipes also have notes to turn meat dishes into vegetarian versions.
Every receipe I have cooked so far has been delicious. I attempted 3 different versions of beef rendang before stumbling across this book at my local library. My husband is from North Samarita and said that this books version is the most uthentic he's had to date. I was absolutely chuffed to be finally able to cook a rendang that actually tasted like the real deal
