There are flashes of the old Woodster Humor that made him a star. Here I think he would have benefitted from an outside director, thus eschewing the mental onanism prevalent in his later films. Miley is a great fit for the part of middle class kid "rebelling" against the system, without really understanding anything at all about how many people die from such rebellions. Patty Hearst is remembered here, a little Jane Fonda, and the "early" still idealistic Jenny from FG. This show has its great moments, but is too lopsided, like driving on a flat tire. I was really hoping for better. What I saw was just an Allen-esque comédie des erreurs. Sad, really. But please try again, Woody, I know you still have one good film in you!
