Travis “Blayne” Kole

Grew up watching the Super Mario Bros. Super Show and always looked forward to Zelda on Friday shows. I always loved how the show used the sound effects from the NES game and remade/updated the music to fit the show. Voice acting is generally good. Ganon’s voice is a standout in my opinion. They did a pretty good job creating a cartoon based on the original Legend of Zelda. Yes, there are cheesy lines, and character gimmicks, such as Link always trying to kiss Zelda but always gets denied or something “ALWAYS happens!”. All in all, I loved it in 1989 and it still has a place in my heart. I just wished they had created more than 13 episodes.

Played on PS5: Some good concepts here but rough around the edges. Floaty exploration and combat brought the experience down for me. Bizarre mechanics like pressing a button after finishing a battle to gain accumulated “style” points felt like a chore after a while. Progressing the story often means the game will randomly relocate you, sometimes into a new zone without warning. With some tweaks and polish this could be worth your time.
