I believe this may be the first time I write a review for a book BUT the taste it's left in my mouth needs to be placed somewhere. It has been a few days and I'm still feeling so disappointed. I should've stopped reading at the description of Aunt Lydia (the author clearly hates fat people, specifically fat women) I'm not entirely sure the author likes women, the women literally never have a voice of their own (I wish I could elaborate but I'm also not AH and don't wanna ruin the ending) The amount of red herrings and "purposely ambiguous" ending; puh-lease just say you didn't know how else to finish a book that is OBVIOUSLY trying to be a movie script. There was so-so-so much that could've been explored but instead we spent more time for an "a-ha" moment that I called about a quarter of the way in. My mistake for falling for the hype on book-tok.

If I could give this movie zero, I would! It's so dumb, I was hoping for a twist, or an explanation of character's odd choices, or a message... Nothing, nada, zilch! If you enjoy soft porn-ish, like maybe, but even then... (gratuitous scenes that do not contribute to plot or story is practically porn) Make sense since Sam Levinson had his hands on this... Ana de Armas is so much better than this- her performance in knives out made me believe this would be something else AND Ben Affleck just seemed a psychotic version of the dude he played in Gone Girl... what a waste of time! Absolutely no point or depth to this movie
