I think the main Actors were mostly all great in this film but the Director and writers were mediocre. The way the film is put together and the music were awful. The judge was kind of a weak character. I’m not one to “judge” people’s work, but in this film the soundtrack ruined the film imho. While some great musical choices were there within, they were just not well placed and the moods were not well built or supported. Nobody seemed like they were actually from the old time west in this film. Bass Reeves character was well carried and the movie would have been a total loss without his skills. Ron Perlman even came out looking fairly weak in this film. I was hoping for some justice for this character, but it failed. Maybe different cameras would help. In the opening scene the horse in the mud has Perlman’s character leaning over the horse, as Reeve’s carries him across the mud, you see another horse and a person (a stage hand) standing behind the horse Perlman was on. They just left it in the scene I guess hoping no one would notice.. It seemed like it was filmed on an iPhone at times.. overall I wouldn’t recommend this film.
