This is the second time reading this. This time for Eau Claire Senior Center Book Club. I enjoyed it so much and can’t wait for the discussion. I think one has to have lived in rural or small town Wisconsin (Manawa) to fully appreciate all the nuances. I was in attendance all those years ago when Michael Perry visited the Sturm Memorial Library and spoke to many volunteer firefighters and EMTs, along with regular library lovers like me, about Population 485. I was hooked on his books ever since. Real people in real towns with real problems, hopes and fears. No one does it better!
