Reading this at 19 and yet feeling more in my 20s helped me feel a little less scared to be in my physical 20s. It made me feel like yes there’s so so much bad but also there’s so so much good
All her struggles and she manages to find that in time it passes. And that yes even though love hurts more with age, and you might not been in a relationship as long as other people have, the longest relationships of love can be seen with your closest friends. Everything you know about love you can learn in your long term friendships with women.
Recommendation: do not be afraid to stop and start the book at different intervals. Dolly writes as if she speaks to a friend. It makes you feel like you’ve started talking to a friend but of course university, jobs, life and all makes you a little preoccupied. But then she’s right back there to pick up where you left off in the conversation. So do not feel guilt if you take a while to finish. But I do recommend you finish the whole book, because you don’t want to deprive yourself of the experience. I don’t want to deprive my closest friends off it too, so I am doing a sisterhood of the traveling book with them across their different sides of the globe.
