An interesting read. It felt like an introduction to the field of forensic psychiatry through a very human lens. It doesn't sensationalise the crimes within, nor does it diminish them. It tries to explain, if it is possible to do, the very intricate, individual issues that people face and what happens when these coalesce into the the act of taking a life.
The honest, sometimes raw, personal reflection within the book was also integral to making it such a compelling read. It brings home the fact that none of us are untouched by psychiatric conditions, either our own or someone else's, and that there is not the right help at the right time available for so many.
