This is among the most important and deeply transformational experiences I've had through engaging with art. I can't rave nearly enough about it as a unique and courageous narrative non fiction that offers insightful journey through the psychodynamic therapeutic relationship. It is properly aimed at a range of readers who may all be seeking a slightly different experience depending on where they are most likely to situate themselves within the active, dynamic and purposeful journey that you take with the characters. Which seat you most identify with occupying is the very best indication of how the journey you take with the protagonists resonates with you and what you see as being artifacts of your own psyche. Indeed I have experienced more than one protagonist's conundrum and managed to get close to the transference and recognition that the patient lives out in this book but far more curious was the way I was easily able to identify my own self in the the previously unknown and admittedly foreign role of the physician too. I am someone who is indebted and very much aware of what is there to be discovered through the process of therapy. It is a two way relationship that has a far more even and natural power exchange than most people would assume with both individuals potentlly altered in equally life changing ways.
