Piper weaves mystery, romance, magic, mental health -and my personal favorite- snarky humor throughout this book. The suspense, drama, and hunt for answers kept me hooked until the very end - a brutal cliffhanger to leave readers on until the next book releases in February. Marlow's pain, frustration, and passion are palpable. Piper's writing is accessible, poetic, brutally honest, and makes it impossible to put this book down for long. If you're an exvangelical looking for catharsis from childhood religious trauma, a mythology nerd looking for a sassy mystery in a modern setting, fan of the TV show Grimm, or just looking for a good time - I highly recommend.
