Sniper, by Marcie Mikanian, transports readers into the mind-numbing world of depression brought on by death, marital strife, and all the ancillary atonements experienced by those it consumes. Mikanian masterfully manipulates the interactions between Rose, the main character, and her husband, Jack, to bring forward states of mind anchored within the emotions of a grief-stricken woman and the power wielded by depressive states of mind.
Reminiscent of the disdaining’s in Euripides’ Medea, the hell-hath-no-fury mindset of a scorned woman manifests itself beyond the bedroom into a whole new world; one steeped in more sinister plots of revenge and depravity. Fraught with loss, Rose finds herself concocting a series of events involving the talents of a contract killer. Her woes would ultimately lead her from the misgivings of her own marriage, into the arms of the very man she seeks to enact her vengeance.
A sudden spiraling of events, culminating in a series of unexpected twists and turns, will most certainly leave readers astounded: Making Sniper a must read!
