A fantastic and interesting return to turn based rng combat. Designed like a tabletop game you will mostly rely on luck through your many play throughs. Much like when playing a tabletop however there are ways to make it so it’s less luck based and you have more chance of success, such as the focus points that allow you to garuantee a success of one of your rolls for an attack to land or more if you spend more focus points on it. These will regen by resting or over time if your gear has an enchantment to do so. you are expected to do side quests etc to be able to do well. But it is likely you will die when this happens you wipe and have to restart don’t fear however for this game is as it describes itself to be. A rogue like meaning through your progression you have earned currency you can use in the lore store to unlock features to make your future play throughs easier. From new classes to new encounters and powerful new weapons and even some customisation options because as everyone knows style makes you do better.
A fantastic game that lovers of table top rpgs combat style should definitely play.
Note: Id advise ignoring the reviews that say the game is unfair and too difficult that you’ll struggle on your play through and that it seems to have a failed paywall system in. Those would be individuals that don’t understand what a rogue like is and likely didn’t read the description of the game. You’re not meant to succeed on your first run nor your second or third you just progressively get better and better as loot drops and encounters become better and better from the upgrades you’ve bought. For any that don’t know what a rogue like is: loosely characterized by various characteristics such as randomised environment generation, permadeath, turn-based movement, text-based or primitive tile-based graphics and hack-and-slash gameplay.
Though given the permanent upgrades you can aqquire this is more of a rogue lite. A little easier than a rogue like but also slightly less skill based.
