I absolutely adore this movie. Just as an FYI, this is not the fun loving jokester that everyone remembers and loves. This is the tragic yet very darkly comedic story of the joker. I won't give any spoilers, but Joaquin Phoneix gives a stellar performance in what led up to who the joker is. As one who deals with mental illness very similar to the joker in this movie, I can highly appreciate it.
The best advice I can give is to not go in thinking this is the joker from the animated series. Rather the one that shows who he really is and how life is a joke overall. A joker that is more realistic than fake. It is not a typical comedy in any sens of the imagination. If you really listen to what he is saying, you can feel what he is really feeling and not what he is saying. This in my opinion is the best DC movie of all time. This is someone who loves the Michael Keaton Batman series too. I can't say enough.gh about this. It is such a great take and the ending connects so many dots in the Batman lore.
