It wasn’t terrible but it certainly very wasn’t good either. I have cone to the conclusion that there will never be another exorcism movie as scary, shocking and disturbing as the original Exorcist movie. You can’t improve perfection. What makes the original stand apart from the others is that at the time it was released, nothing had ever been done like that before. It was taboo. It was disturbing. It was frightening. It was controversial. It was gross. It was mortifying. I think the statement that John Lennon made about Elvis, “Before Elvis, there was nothing “ could apply to the original Exorcist movie…. “Before The Exorcist, there was nothing.” No movie that has been made since the original has ever nor will ever live up to the fame of the original movie. It’s like comparing a Big Mac to a steak dinner at a five star restaurant.
