I love horror, and horror that plays on religion is always fun, but I went into this with low expectations and still left underwhelmed. The movie is less than 90 minutes and I still found myself checking my watch to see when it would end. There is no character development, and very little back story for even the key characters. Also, not that it matters to most people, but if you are Catholic or have any knowledge of the church then you'll spot annoying inaccuracies throughout that just look stupid. Like when they dress her up to look like Mary and off to the side is the Blessed Sacrament just sitting in a monstrance off to the side like a cheap decoration. That would never happen even in a situation like what they are supposedly believing in this scene. It demonstrated such a bizarre lack of understanding of the source material that it just really took me out of it. It's more like watching a movie of what someone outside the church "thinks" goes on in monasteries. Then the science nerd in me has issues with the plot just with a basic knowledge of DNA and it's stability. Yeah I know this makes me annoying and I try to suspend these thoughts for movies but this one was just too stupid.
