Autopilot : The art & Science of Doing Nothing
Author: Andrew Smart
Genre : Neuro-science, self-help
Let me first ask you something,
How often you sit and do nothing?
Well most of us don't even know what that is, and don't assume it with scrolling social media as a leisure activity that you do. Well, The author of this book, Andrew Smart wants you to sit & do nothing much more often - and he has science to explain why.
This book is about being idle. Being idle is one of the most important activities in life and despite the fact that all over the world our working hours are increasing & everytime management book on the market claims that you can and should do more. The message behind this book is totally opposite.
Neuroscientific evidence argues that your brain needs rest now. While our minds are exquisitely evolved for intense action in order to function normally our brains also need to be idle. Interesting your brain has an Autopilot. When you enter a resting state, your brain's autopilot engages.
Being idle I believe can make you creative and generate new thinking and ideas, As we all are very busy into our daily schedules and making sure how much work we get done. I think there is loss of creativity. I liked this book because it dosen't sell the same story the every other self-help book does , i.e. work & be productive and keep working hustling. This book has total different perspective and that's what really made me curious to read this book. The writting in this book as well is very easy to understand and dosen't complicate like other neuroscience books would.
If you like or have interest to know more about how our brain functions and how it is then this could be one of the neuro-science book you should give a chance to read.
HAPPY READING:)
