Feedback regarding the lastest episode today, with part about eye sight, fact or fiction. "Is it bad to hold a book too close or sitting too close to tv?" Advice suggested on the show was that this is was fiction, not true. As an optometrist I know there has been research done in this area to suggest that in children of different ages, who have developing vision, holding reading material/ipads too close can increase the risk for short sightedness and or can cause accommodative/focusing issues. Look into "Harmon working distance," a distance equivalent to ones hand to elbow distance. This is the best distance one should use togeher with regular breaks from close work for good continued visual hygiene.
