Loved the series. It is disappointing however, that despite the Ukraine being independent, people still use the Russian language. I would have imagined they would have gone back to Ukrainian. My mother is Ukrainian, but she came from Chernivtsi, so nothing like what I've seen here. I am planning to go to Kiev after she dies (she's 98!) and eat varenyky, wearing my vyshyvanka, and generally check it it out. It's good to have a plan of what to see. Although the series was made a few years ago, it's still pretty current, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get around on my own with my Ukrainian language and Australian passport.
