This was the worst movie ever! I don’t want to leave even one star but I can’t submit the review without it. Too much music which didn’t make sense in any stretch of the mind. No music was needed ever! I feel like Lady Gaga was only put in to sing the musical and it was horrible. What ever made the Joker the joker the writer killed off. They took a beaten down man and broke him down further till there was nothing left. The people who tormented and tortured him got away with it and left nothing for the character to cling to. The writers must have hated the character the joker. The writer or whoever approved of the movie was an idiot. It was painful to watch this movie and I regret the time I spent watching it. I stayed to the end hoping that something would change and it didn’t. The movie could have written itself but the writers killed it with their stupidity. If the writers had half a brain they would’ve had Arthur Fleck in Arkham asylum and delve into his split personality. The beginning would’ve been him in therapy trying to get treatment for his abuse then Harley would have been his therapist and she should have been corrupted by the joker. He would stand trial and then somehow taken control of the court room. He could embrace his joker half personality then escaped to the embrace of the public performing his dance on the streets of Gotham. He also could have had met Batman in this alternate universe in a strange and different way. This could have led to a sequel. Too bad. I don’t blame Joaquin Phoenix for not wanting to do another movie. They had a great movie and they spit on the Joker character.
