If a movie gets some appreciation, like 20-25 years later, it's not really a good movie. Robocop 2 looking good now is really just nostalgia combined with how awful modern day films are now. So a movie like Robocop 2 gains value and appreciation not so much because of it's quality at it's original time, but because of the bad state of films currently. This film was not a good sequel. The ending was really awful, and it makes you think that Robocop stops crime for nothing. The people who watched it right after Robocop are the ones that hold the highest weight in Robocop 2's reviews. They were pretty disappointed with the poor character development of this bad sequel. I just watched the two back 2 back, the sequel is a far cry from the original. Robocop had great characters. You actually felt sympathy for the death and ressurection of Alex Murphy, his metamorphosis into a half-man half-cyborg has great nuance and in-depth significance. The sequel was just utter chaos and action scenes. The villain Cain as the main antagonist barely gets any screen time or dialogue. Whereas Clarence Boddicker is just an absolutely ruthless villain with stellar dialogue. You actually really cheer for Robocop to take down Boddicker. Cain just comes off like a street thug with a bad drug addiction. 2/5 for me.
