I believe most of the negative reviews of this movie come from people who can't (or won't) understand or empathize with the protagonist of the movie. Accordingly, they will have negative words and reviews out of indifference. But, for those who have even remotely experienced a turbulent and unhealthy relationship with a no-good, low-down man, this movie will resonate with that audience, and give them a glimmer of hope that there is a better man out there somewhere.
