The movie is one of the masterpieces of Tom Hanks.
The Vietnam war was a tragic event and this movie has channelled the incident on how the soldiers were affected by this, though grump here is a fictional character. It also provides historical references like Wallace protest in Alabama.
Even my history teacher recommended this movie!
