Kuduloka DaBomb

There are few shows I've watched that have a more convoluted, inconsistent and incoherent story as this one. The main characters, both played by Stenberg, both suffer heavily from motivation changes constantly (sometimes mere minutes apart) with no explanation. While this is not the only gripe, it makes this show hard to follow and fathom. It's only worsened by obvious poor character choices, and a strange departure from the Star Wars universe theme: good guys bad, bad guys good-ish. Exploring a villain and their journey to the dark side can be compelling and well received, if done correctly. The Acolyte is not faithful to the source material and ignores in universe rules and ideas. If you want a good laugh (it's so bad it's bonkers) this will do it for you. You won't know what you just watched, and you'll forget about it after a day or two.

Anyone who has finished the game can tell you three things: 1) the final boss...I'm not exactly at all sure what happened, 2) the ending...well, it was jarring, disappointing and feels incomplete, 3) we're still waiting for a story. No spoilers, because there's nothing to spoil. You'll get most of the way through, and you'll still have no clue what is going on, who anyone is, who your character is as well, or why anything is happening. And when they finally do sprinkle some story on you (sparingly), it feels cheap. And at the very end they try to douse you, only to realize they've only had a glass of water, and spritzed most of it on you earlier. Disappointing doesn't even begin to describe how you'll feel playing it. The beginning has potential, but be warned. It only gets worse.

I couldn't finish it. I actually have the unpopular opinion of liking Craig's first three bond films, with Skyfall taking the cake. Sure, it's a leap away from the formula, but I enjoyed them for what they were. Spectre was a dry, over dialogue ridden film. Some great set pieces and action, but it did not feel like the previous films; not did his "love" for Madeleine make any sense. No Time to Die, is more of the same from Spectre: long unnecessary dialogue which amount to no character building, weird love triangles, fun but short lived and unnecessary side characters, with great action set pieces and locations mixed it to make it semi watchable. Lashana Lynch's character is my least favorite. I feel bad for her, because her character is written to be toxic and annoying. If they want an interesting and even empowering female character, they need to do the opposite of her. The wokeness is also troubling. Q being gay? Feels like a distracting and unnecessary detail for a character, we often see little of. James is less suave and more awkward and sounds. While the action was great, the storytelling was awful. Won't be finishing.

The first act was alright, and the second act sped downward. Overall it's an okay film. I can't say it's good; it's not. But it isn't a terrible film. Just a bad one. The writers tried to put every cliche they could into it. It appears to be a cheesy action adventure flick, but they had to implement a bit of lackluster romance, political statements pertinent to modern audiences, a dash of horror. I fortunately the Rock's character starts out interesting, then evolves with some odd timed and mismanaged reveals. Blunt's character doesn't see any growth and remains stagnant. Only Whitehall's character was written well enough to be likeable and interesting throughout. The ending was predictable and meh. While I didn't care for the few political references, the movie wears it on its sleeve and decides to end by flaunting it (makes me cringe). Overall, poorly written and trying to do too much.

This show is not faithful in any manner to the source material. Say what you want about creating an alternate universe, it has alienated fans of the series that should be flocking to it. The series was about action and adventure, not drama. Overall the show is awkward and can't decide what it wants to be, when there were already clear cut paths it could've taken; writers and directors today want to tread their own path with a property instead of providing an engaging and interesting story.
