As a retired white female professor from a small liberal arts college, sadly I found many scenes/story lines to be highly familiar. Having just finished the series, it reinforced for me why I am glad to be retired. As a chair, Sharon Oh continuously walked the line of trying to support her department members as well as the demands of the administration. Her lack of life balance was typical of many academics. The plot lines were indicative of a small university with little ethnic diversity pretending to be "open" to those who are not male, white middle/upper class.
